The Sale of Grade Points

When Mrs. Moore presented us with the ISB indulgences I was exited about it because I thought that you could use it to partially improve a score. However, When she told us it could raise entire points, as well as on the final exams, and that it cost 1,000 rsd per ticket; I started to question it. First, I started to believe that it was fake because of the high price, and ability to fix mid-terms. I also stated to think that it would be an unfair advantage to the richer students, because they could have the best grades, and do none of the work. I believe that the school could sell indulgences, but not to gain whole grade points. I believe that if you have a good excuse for not doing a minor piece of homework such a worksheet, you should be able to get out of it; but, you would be given a small amount of purchases. Furthermore, I do not believe that you should be allowed to buy whole grade points, as many times as you want because of two reasons. The first reason is, that rich people would have an unfair advantage. For example, if one student has better grades based on their work, then it would not be fair for an underachiever to be able to buy a higher grade than the hard worker. Also, it would be like robing the students family, as well as allowing them to not do their work, and this would catch up with them in the future.
This "trick" is parallel to the corrupted church because they are both selling advantages to people who can afford it thus increasing their wealth, and the customers power.

"All the World's a stage"

"All the World's a stage"
~~William Shakespeare As You Like It

To me the quote "All the World's a Stage" from the play As You Like It, by William Shakespeare, means that the entire world is one big play, and we are all actors. As actors we have entrances and exists, some people play minor, some major roles, and some people are the antagonists, or the protagonists. There are conflicts and resolution, Settings, and expositions. Finally, some characters change, and some stay static, some people are flat, and some round. These are all things that happen in plays, as well as in real life. I agree with this quote because based on the comparison between reality and play's, I have decided that the two are incredibly similar.
First of all, all humans are like characters in a play. They are born and die, just like an actor enters and exits. Some of the people on this Earth are more important and have a greater significance, such as Albert Eisenstein; but others might not be as interesting. Also, some people are the "Good-Guys" of society, such as Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves, as opposed to the "villains" such as Adolf Hitler. Another point would be that, some people change throughout their lives and become better, or worse people based on the experiences and conflicts, and there are people the behave just the opposite, and do not change at all. Finally, some people are round and open, who expose all the information about them, and there are others who are very mysterious and unknown. These are all characteristics of human beings, as well as the traits of characters. Therefore, all the World's a stage.

"The end justifies the means."

"The end justifies the means."
~~Machiavelli

To me the quote "The end justifies the means." by Machiavelli, means that if you commit an action, with a reasonable purpose, that generates an outcome which is beneficial, for an individual or group, it is justifiable. I agree with this quote one hundred percent. Sometimes, stealing, killing, or cheating is the right thing to do.
First of all, if you steal food, for example, for a needy person. In the end, the needy person benefits, the thief stays neutral, but the baker is harmed; however, he only suffers a small amount. Also, if you steal from a crook or con-man, to return the money to the people that where conned. In this case, the crook is brought to justice, and money is returned to the poor.
Also, sometimes killing is the right thing to do. For example, killing a murderer or terrorist is illegal, but a justifiable thing to do because they would kill thousands of others.
Finally, if you are running for a position, for example, and your opponent is deceiving the public and winning their votes, but wants to abuse his power; I believe that it is alright to cheat and win the election because you will help a nation.

"Outer Beauty is the true sign of inner goodness"

"Outer Beauty is the true sign of inner goodness"
~~Castiglione: The Courtier

This quote is saying that the way you look on the inside is reflected on how you look on the outside. I partially agree with this quote. When you are trying a look, you are not going to pick one that does not express you as who you are. For example, if you are a person who is nice, outgoing and confident, you are not going to die your hair black, and wear black, ripped clothing and accessories that represent death, and vice versa. You would most likely dress to look nice and pleasant. However, this is not always the case. The quote is also saying that you should judge a book by its cover, and this may sometimes be deceiving. People my try to look more appealing so that they will not be seen as freaks, or so that they can attract or join a certain group or individual. This also happens online when people say that they are younger, and a different gender so that they can get close to different people.

What is a Renaissance Man?

A Renaissance man is a person who is skilled at many different artistic, and intellectual aspects. These include; painting, sculpting, designing, singing, writing, inventing, acting, and others. If you where able to do many of these things you where considered a Renaissance man. Some Renaissance men of late medieval Europe where Leonardo Da Vinci, Michael Angelo, Shakespeare, and many others. These people where very intellectual, as well as great at the arts. These characteristics did not emerge before because of two reasons. One, is that no one was able to devote time to learning, or improving these qualities; and second, nobody in those days cared about the arts, or inventing and designing new things, they where focused on working hard so that they could go to heaven.
